Luoghi Abbandonati ACQUEDOTTO STORICO DI GENOVA

The old water way dates back to the domination of the Roman Empire, to satisfy the water needs of the city of Genoa and its port. It was a long channel where the water flowed along the entire Bisagno valley.
The aqueduct was largely restored thanks to institutional works , and thanks to many voluntary organizations and volunteers. There are still some critical issues relating some abandoned places along the way that may be restored in the future and making a nice walk in a green area not far from the center of Genoa.

STAGLIENO ... but not only...

WALDENSIANS CEMETERY of CEREGHINO Family

Sometimes, along the Eastern Liguria, we arrive at a particular location such as a very small and simple abandoned cemetery, with a very interesting history. We are near Favale di Malvaro and you can now know the troubled history of the family of Cereghino, peasants but also and storytellers of the second half of 1800 and the problems they had with the Catholic community of Favale di Malvaro. The place has handed down in history because tells of the love between Joseph Cereghino and Catherine Costa. Since they do not want to follow the Catholic faith, then the parish priest Don Christopher Repetti, did not marry them and, as they start to live together, he act to have them in prison in Chiavari for immoral conduct and religious conspiracy. Today it seems paradoxical, but the times were those. But they were released shortly after but this fact, however, was fatal to Joseph, who died a few months later. Known by the nickname od "Scialìn" the Cereghinos in winter emigrated to Piedmont and Lombardy. In one of their travels arrived in Torre Pellice where they began to have a passion for what was preached by the Waldesian community. Back in Favale they built a church (today private property) where Cereghino Stefano was appointed pastor and they had more than 110 faithful. Their songs are played by the musicians of "The Group" and also by the group "La Rionda" with Max Manfredi. The place is worth a visit because it is in the beautiful valley of Malvaro in Fontanabuona with mount Pagliaro, between the rivers Arena and Castle, and near mount Ramaceto along the Ligurian Mountains High Way trek. If you go there, do it with the due respect. In January of year 2014 Favale saw the laying of a plaque as a symbol of "reconciliation". Historical information from an article published, of July-December 2004 in the magazine R Ni of Aigura (The Eagle's Nest) and for those interested to know more can go to the link http://www.enricopelos.it/articles/i%20cereghino%20e%20le%20loro%20canzoni%20itineranti%20di%20enrico%20pelos.pdf which is in Italian but with a comprehensive resumé in the English language.

I walked in recent days along the beautiful Anita Garibaldi promenade placed in Nervi (Genoa) to look for some interesting photos and I arrived here ... I hadn't gone to Nervi for a quite while and it occurred to me, to paraphrase a famous song by the great Italian songwriter Fabrizio De André, of this story telling about the famous restaurant called Marinella, along the Anita Garibaldi walk in Nervi which was a beautiful story ... Built in the early '900 it was then transformed into a rationalist building by the architect Nicoli from Milan in 1934, who wanted to represent it as a ship on the reef ... It hasn't worked for many months and it is now in the category of the Abandoned Places ... the hope, for the next year, is that it will go out soon... (a curiosity: the place is just a few hundred meters away from the famous railway Station of Sant'Ilario which is also mentioned in the famous Fabrizio De André song "Bocca di Rosa"... https://www.facebook.com/466043970185353/photos/a.466674136789003.1073741827.466043970185353/550667271723022/?type=1&theater )

LUOGHI ABBANDONATI - ABANDONED PLACES - FORTE FRATELLO MINORE di Genova

LUOGHI ABBANDONATI - ABANDONED PLACES - FORTE FRATELLO MINORE 08 (622 m s.l.m.)

Fratello Minore (Younger Brother) Fort was built between 1816 and 1830. It is situated on top of Mount Spino and in front of the mountain where there was once the Forte Fratello Maggiore (Elder Brother). In 1800 the area was a battlefield between Genoa and the French army against the Austrian army settled on Fort Diamante and the chronicles tell that in one of the battles here was wounded the famous Italian poet Ugo Foscolo.
